We’re defining what WELL means to us and our careers.

What is the WELL Coterie?

The WELL Coterie is a newly-formed network for leaders in the heart of the WELL space. Its aim is to create in-person, local hubs for professionals who want to advance the full framework of WELL. While many sustainable building networks already exist, none fully integrate all ten WELL concepts. The WELL Coterie fills this space by creating a community where professionals can connect, gather, and resource-share within a space that is fully reflective of the interdisciplinary nature of the WELL Building Standard.

Is the International WELL Building Institute (IWBI) organizing the WELL Coterie?

No. While the IWBI supports this network— and we have had over one year of conversations to align on objectives— they are not organizing the network at this time. The IWBI is supportive of WELL Faculty members, Emily Busam and Mitchell Grant, leading the charge on the initiative. This means that it is currently a grassroots effort that will be significantly shaped by the individuals who get involved, and it will evolve as the network grows.

What will WELL Coterie gatherings look like?

The format of the WELL Coterie gatherings hinges on the size and location of WELL Coterie members. If there is enough critical mass in a region, we will host small, intimate gatherings of between 8-14 people. The intent of these gatherings is simple: to connect off-line, listen, learn, and inspire one another through meaningful dialogue around the topic of WELL. If there is not enough critical mass in one region to host WELL Coterie gatherings, we will join forces to integrate into already existing local sustainability networking organizations, such as regional Green Building Council chapters, ULI, and more. By joining forces, we’re working to bring greater visibility and support for WELL in already-existing, similarly-focused local organizations.
